Interior Accommodations
The two stateroom Hylas 46 layout lends itself very well to two-couple cruising, giving each couple privacy and their own head.
The forward head is in the bow, with plenty of space for a separate shower stall, head and vanity. A large overhead hatch provides ventilation. Moving aft, there is a double berth to port. With a lee cloth, this also makes a good sea berth. Four large drawers are under the berth. There is a hanging locker and storage to starboard.
The main cabin features a semi-circular dinette to port, with an inboard seat mounted on slides so that it can be used when needed and tucked away when not. The dinette can be lowered to form a double berth. On the starboard side is a settee that pulls out to form large single berth.
Lockers and shelves line the hull sides. The table contains flat storage for paper charts, and the table itself is hinged for access. There is storage under the seats.
The engine is housed amidships under the companionway and galley island. There is outstanding engine access from the front and sides. In the space normally devoted to the genset aft of the engine, there is additional storage. The fore-and-aft galley is to starboard and has exceptional storage, a refrigerator and a freezer with separate temperature controls, and a three burner stove and oven. The sinks are on the centerline island.
To port is the navigation center including the electrical panel and communication devices. The starting battery is under the navigation seat.
Thanks to the Hylas 46’s powerful aft sections, the master stateroom aft is very spacious. A central hanging locker plus lockers port and starboard can easily accommodate large wardrobes.

Sails and Rigging
The deck and sail plan has been extraordinarily well planned for easy and safe sail handling in all conditions by a minimal crew. All reefing and furling can be done from the bank of stoppers adjacent to the electric winch next to the companionway. With the headsail, staysail and drifter all on furlers and the mainsail having in-boom furling, there is virtually never a need to go forward for sailing handling at sea.
