ACCOMODATIONS:
Straightforward in layout, the overall feel of the Valkyrie’s interior is one of useable comfort. There seems to be an unending supply of lockers and cabinets, all securely latched and accessible. Ventilation is key to onboard comfort, and Valkyrie features all opening ports plus a large forward hatch and extra-large mid-hatch. Combined with fans throughout, Valkyrie stayed cool through the hot months in Mexico without air condition. There are covers to keep the sun off the deck at anchor, key to staying cool in hot anchorages. There is 6’5” headroom.
The forward V-berth is slightly offset to port to make getting in easier via the seat to starboard. The spacious head features a separate shower stall. In a nod to the owners’ time in Mexico, there’s a very colorful tiled counter and sink that fits the space better than the original. Drawers and lockers are abundant in the forward cabin and passageway.
The main salon features a settee to starboard, where a Dickinson diesel heater with fan is situated. (Valkyrie also has Espar forced air heat.) lockers line the hull sides, with dimmable access lighting in recesses. A simple slide out extension coverts the dinette to a comfortable double. A 32” screen TV can be mounted on the starboard side, when not in its dedicated storage place in the forepeak.
The navigation table is compact. Instruments, including chartplotter, surround the navigation station. The electrical panels are extensive; user friendly, complete and expertly finished. The neighboring countertop in the galley has a large horizontal surface for spreading charts flat over the dry storage locker.
The galley is complete, with plenty of space for food and dishes, and the Spectra watermaker flushing can be done from the galley. The deep refrigerator is well insulated, working well even when the boat was in warm Mexican waters.
The aft cabin to starboard features and abundance of lockers and a very large double berth. It can be closed off from the main cabin with room to spare and a seat for dressing.

DECK & HULL:
Cabo Rico boats are known for their rugged construction. Because they came in on the heavier end of the scale, there was no reason to compromise on the construction. Vinylester resin was used to prevent blistering, and balsa core was utilized only above the waterline to add insulation. In loaded areas, such as cockpit coamings underneath winches, coring was eliminated.
