Hull and Structure
The Xc 38 is a composite construction moulded using 5-axis milled female tooling.
The hull iOS a full polyester resin/sandwitch construction using using vinylester resin systemic outer skin layer, foam core with bilabial E-glass skins and uni-directional reinforcements.
Solid, monolithic laminate is used in areas around the keel structure, rudder stock bearing, around each through hull fittings, sail drive, and bow thruster.
Structural Bulkheads
All structural bulkheads securely bonded to hull and deck. All bulkheads of marine plywood thickness between 16 and 24 mm.
Watertight Bulkheads
At the forward end of the boat watertight separate of the anchor compartment and interior accommodation for safety and reassurance in the event of a collision.
Keel Structure
The keel structure also has an integrated single point centre hoist for easy and safe lifting and launching.
Keel
The keel draft is 6'5" with a cast iron fin with an antimony hardened lead L-bulb bolted and glued to cast iron fin for high strength, low center of gravity and comfortable sailing performance. The keel is encapsulated in 3 layers of GRP and moulded in epoxy resin to original keel section templates. The keel is securely bolted to the structural keel frame with stainless steel bolts.
Steering Gear
Rudder
The rudder blade is constructed from sandwich GRP. Rudder stock constructed of solid, high strength aluminum with welded spokes, which transmit the steering torque into the rudder blade.
The rudder stock is mounted through a needle bearing at the hull and self -aligning bearing at the deck to achieve minimum friction for effortless sailing.
Wheel Pedestals/Wheels
Two integrated wheel pedestals in the deck offer an excellent helming position on beachside of the boat. A stainless steel grab rail is fitted as standard, with the optional integrated throttle and thruster control star bd. Each Pedestal is fitted with a 90 cm diameter stainless steel wheel covered with leather.
